If I'm going to host a party for you, wouldn't you rather be able to keep it to people you specifically want there?
I can just host something public as a formality so I can also set up a private party for you and yours. You should start thinking about what you'd like, though.
an entertaining thing to do would be to replace every instance of “for ritual purposes” in any archeology article with “for funsies”
