Hm, maybe I've never been human~ But I've done makeup often enough. I spent much time on the stage, and makeup can help to communicate things with the audience. In my culture, makeup was just as much a male thing as a female thing, the difference being that men chose more neutral colors than the women. Usually.
I suppose your world's changed for the better, then. Though as much as Hell's changed any of us, our places of origin still shaped us, no? Whether we liked it or not.

Perhaps. But it isn't necessarily new, either. In other countries, perhaps.. but in my country there have been men in makeup for much of our history. Not every day of course, but for performances. Historically, men would even have to play female roles in theater due to laws against female actors. Women and men both can act now, but that doesn't stop us needing makeup for the stage.
...although, I think any species with the capacity for higher thought probably ought to be, if I'm really being honest. Not for nothing did I have to trick my own people into doing what was best for them.
