Perhaps. But it isn't necessarily new, either. In other countries, perhaps.. but in my country there have been men in makeup for much of our history. Not every day of course, but for performances. Historically, men would even have to play female roles in theater due to laws against female actors. Women and men both can act now, but that doesn't stop us needing makeup for the stage.

I unfortunately never got to travel much outside of Europe. I think I would have liked it better, elsewhere.
