I would say you are lucky to skip the awkward growing years of the discipline, but it is far from past that.

The periods where discovery's happening are often the interesting ones, at least. I imagine the mind is one of the harder things to pin down.

Haven't put much thought into how men would diagnose problems of those who are generally perceived as female, have you? They don't really leave room for sympathy.

Oh, believe me, I have more than adequate experience with how human men think the quote-unquote female mind works, whether it's the women of their own people or of others. Human men have woefully lacking sympathy in general.

Are you still working on ridding yourselves of those restrictive definitions of gender in your present day, then?

I'm aware that many others have them. But if my recollection of scholars is anything, I agree with my past self that the previously less publicized voices are worth listening more acutely too. Something about not being part of dominant socio-economic class tends to make anything worth saying for that group absolutely critical. Go figure.
